Refuge / Safe Accommodation

A refuge is safe emergency accommodation for women with or without children who are fleeing domestic abuse.

The refuge accommodation PDVG provides varies in size and facilities with some communal areas and your own private room. We have resources and facilities to support women and children with special needs and disabilities, this would have to be assessed on an individual basis.

One of our refuges is a specialist refuge for black minority ethnic women with or without children.

Unfortunately, PDVG refuges cannot accommodate male victims of domestic abuse but we can provide support to men who need to access emergency accommodation.

When you come to our refuge you will be allocated a specialist domestic abuse support worker. They will help you identify all the things you need support with and help you develop a plan of how these needs will be met.

Refuge accommodation can be paid for in a range of ways. Many women can claim help from housing benefit. We will talk to you about this when you first contact us and we will help you to look at your options.

If you are not safe in Kirklees PDVG can help you find a refuge in another area in the UK.
