Pennine Domestic Violence Group (PDVG) delivers nationally accredited, quality marked domestic abuse services across Kirklees. We work within a coordinated partnership response to victims of domestic abuse as part of the local area multi agency strategy to tackling domestic abuse.

1. PDVG is looking to recruit a Specialist Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Support Worker within the Live Safe Hub

PDVG Live Safe Hub delivers a high quality, community based, multi-agency response for people affected by domestic abuse to reduce the risk of potential and actual harm to adults and children. We would like to recruit a specialist domestic abuse and sexual violence support worker, to operate within the Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) team. The post is fixed for 12 months at which point a full evaluation of the work will be completed with a view to inform future service delivery within the IDVA service and Live Safe Hub.

SALARY:                                                               £22,000 – 23,000 per annum Pro -rata

HOURS:                                                                15.00 over two days 7.5 per day

Plus:

The Live Safe Hub IDVA service work with female and male victims of domestic abuse aged 16+ living across Kirklees through a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support framework.
The Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Worker will also work with key agencies to improve awareness of domestic abuse and sexual violence within an intimate relationship and its impact. Part of the role will be to establish and maintain positive, proactive and innovative working relationships, pathways and referral routes with partner agencies across Kirklees.

The post holder will have excellent understanding of domestic/sexual abuse and the effects on victims, families and communities, also having excellent understanding of best practice within the domestic/sexual abuse and related sector, working with individuals who have complex and multiple needs. The post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning also handling sensitive information on a daily basis.

Experience of direct work with male and female victims of domestic/sexual abuse, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

The nature of the role requires regular travel across Kirklees. The post holder is required to hold a full clean driving license and access to a vehicle.

2. Specialist BAME Domestic Abuse Support Worker

Pennine Domestic Violence Group (PDVG) delivers nationally accredited, quality marked domestic abuse services across Kirklees. We work within a coordinated partnership response to victims of domestic abuse as part of the local area multi agency strategy to tackling domestic abuse.

Huddersfield Women’s Aid forms part of PDVG emergency, temporary, safe accommodation service (Refuge) delivering high quality accommodation services for women with or without children who are subjected to domestic abuse and forced to leave their homes to reduce the risk of potential and actual harm from the perpetrator.

We are looking to appoint someone with extensive experience of working with vulnerable people, some of which will have been with women affected by domestic and/or sexual violence. The person we are looking for will also have experience of residential provision and operational experience of need and risk assessment tools.   Practical experience of supporting service users from BAME communities.

Domestic abuse and sexual violence affects entire families and we actively seek applications that reflect the diversity of Kirklees. Therefore, this post is exempt from the Equality Act as it is an occupational requirement to have an individual from a BAME background to provide support to BAME clients. It is also the case that we require a female employee to carry out the work, as she will be providing specialist support to women only regarding domestic abuse and sexual violence.
